This class is designed for those who are beginning their yoga practice. The pace of the class moves in a way that allows students to get into their bodies and learn the poses in a safe and healthy manner. Beginner Power Yoga outlines the flow and poses that a student would find in any class offered at Raffa. This class allows students to become familiar with the breath work that is used in yoga class and also to become comfortable on their mats. The room is heated which offers a detox for the students. Students are encouraged to come to class and be comfortable with where they are in their practice.

Students will practice Surya Namaskar and Shiva vinyasa flows to warm up the body,bring flexibility to all muscles and joints and wake up the nervous system. Weather managing chronic connective tissue diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, renewing strength and flexibility into a previously tight or injured areas of your body or just looking to improve the depth of your flexibility and balance, this core practice is for you.
Years of a dedicated asana practice will make anyone healthier, stronger, and more flexible, but at some point the muscles will have reached their limit of flexibility. New depths in postures, deeper ranges of motion, or an increased flow of energy may only be achievable by focusing on the deeper tissues of the body. This is the perfect compliment and balance to a more active, yang practice. If you have ever sat for a long time with legs crossed, you know the hips and lower back need to be strong and open. The sensations you felt were deep in the connective tissues and the joints. These are the deep yin tissues of the body, relative to the more superficial yang tissues of muscles and skin. This practice opens up these deep, dense, rarely touched areas. This class will integrate deep yin postures with longer holds as well as assisted yang stretches to awaken every depth of your tissue. No experience is necessary, start where you are! All levels are welcome so… Come experience the journey! |

Restorative yoga will teach you how to move your body and mind away from activity and into an active state of relaxation. Practicing a variety of asanas (poses) props are used to position you in the greatest alignment for your nervous system to let go, relax, renew and disconnect. Each poses is held for 5-20 minutes this gives the nervous system time to unwind and the parasympathetic nervous system time to engage.
